There are several reasons for creating a manual. First of all it helps users to take right decisions either in the process of production or during the process of selection. In the past manuals used to provide answers to simple questions to enlighten their users, which can be compared to the role of the Age of Enlightenment in France. In the twentieth century manuals found different cultural application. Today, manuals are designed to provide technical support and to enable users to develop specific critical and objective skills, and to stimulate comparative methods to solve problems.

If used as a road map it is able to connect different systems, as well as to provide the appropriate tools for reading the map.
