This building was originally planned as the administrative building of the Velenje Coal Mine but only served this purpose for a few months. It then became the administrative building of the City Municipality of Velenje and has kept this function ever since. Designed by the architects Janez Trenz and Karlo Hus it was opened to public in 1959. It stands directly opposite the House of Culture in the main city square. Its glass reception space connects into a compact volume with large concave windows. The main façade is rhythmically and consistently filled with vertical elements without and horizontal elements with windows.
