On Friday, 6th of May 2011, the events organized in Forlì to officially implement the project of the Municipality of Forlì about the Architecture of Totalitarian Regimes of XX Century in Europe “ATRIUM” were concluded. This project, funded by the Transnational Cooperation Programme South-East Europe (SEE), aims at developing a candidacy dossier to submit to the Council of Europe for the creation of a European Cultural Route.

After the kick-off meeting, term of the Europeanist language to indicate the very first technical meeting of the project, the international network of partners coming from Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia and Romania became really operative. The activities that are to be implemented are different and complex: from a first analysis and identification of architectural cases-studies to be included into the “Route” to the elaboration of a technical manual addressed to experts for the management, preservation, re-use and econonomic valorization of architecture of the European Totalitarian Regimes of the XX Century, to the digital cataloguing of the architectural, archivistic and immaterial heritage and finally to the design of the Cultural Route to be presented to the Council of Europe.

After the welcome speeches by the Mayor of Forlì Roberto Balzani and by the City Councillor of Culture and European Policy Patrick Leech, the works got to the heart of the matter through a Lectio Magistralis held by Arch. Ulisse Tramonti of the University of Florence who showed a picture of the architectural heritage between the First and the Second World War.
